Graffiti Waterfall Hike

Writer's picture: AlwaysKimberlyyyAlwaysKimberlyyy

One unique hiking trail located in Southern California where you will experience a small waterfall and colorful graffiti around you.

GRAFFITI WATERFALL HIKE

Living in Southern California, there is so much to see and explore. I am grateful to live around so many beautiful places around OC. One cool hiking trip that is unique in its own way is called Graffiti Waterfall. It's a hiking trail with its own twist of graffiti on nature territory. I know many individuals do not agree with people graffitiing on nature, which is 100% understandable. I love and respect nature, and the last thing I would do is damage it with chemical sprays. Although this hiking trail is unique from other trails, you get to see people's creative artwork on the rocks. This graffiti trail reminds me of a bubble gum alley located in San Luis Obispo downtown, where people stick their yucky gum onto a wall filled with colorful chewed up gum. Random people placed their "mark" on bubble gum alley similar to graffiti waterfall. Lastly, yes, there is a small waterfall, when I went there, there was a decent amount of water falling. It's pretty dry down here in Cali for most of the year, so I was surprised there was water falling down.

Now, as far as I have heard, people have experienced strange experiences while doing this trail. Some have said they have been thrown stuff at them, taunted by people doing drugs, and so on. I would not recommend doing this trail alone, so bring someone if you can.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THIS HIKE

The hike is in a hidden location

The hike is not known to many people because it is hidden and it's between the neighborhoods. When you arrive, you most likely will find parking, but I would be careful about street sweeping. The last thing we want is to get a ticket after enjoying a hike. Since my last visit there, I don't have the address saved on my phone. You can find this hiking trail on Yelp, and people have left in the comments the address to get there.

 It's not a long hike (30min)

This hiking trail can be within 30 minutes of arriving at the main spot. When I went with my cousin, it took us almost two hours in total to explore and finish the hike. It's an easy hike, but if you do this trail in the sun, I will suggest taking a hat because you are constantly exposed to the sun.

Follow the graffiti sprayed on the plants

Once you get to the hiking location, you are going to see a long narrow cement trail up a little hill, and that is where the beginning of the trail will start.

Be aware of snakes (when it is hot)

When my cousin and I went, it was starting to get pretty hot, we went around 11 am and the sun was burning down on us as we hiked the trail. Because of the heat, be careful with bees, mosquitos, buzzing insects, and snakes. When we were coming back, I was ahead of my cousin, and all of a sudden, a snake quickly sprinted in front of me. I wish I could remember what color it was, but it crawled so quickly. There was no rattling sound and I am not a snake expert to know if it was venomous or not.
