My faith-based morning routine!

Writer's picture: AlwaysKimberlyyyAlwaysKimberlyyy

Hi everyone! I love reading about women’s morning routine and getting to read what they implement in their mornings. I decided to share how I get through my mornings and how to begin the day off to a positive start. I hope you enjoy this post!

Since March, there hasn't been much to do in quarantine and in lockdown, and I have found myself stuck at home. Even though I work from home, I still like to look presentable and feel cute. I don't apply too much makeup, but I apply a minimal which includes mascara, concealer under the eyes, eyebrows and apply powder. I also like to fix my hair and not make it seem like I just woke up.

1.Wake up, give thanks, and fix the bed

During quarantine, I have been waking up early in the morning. The first thing I do is thank God for giving me a new day. I got into the habit of waking up and giving my gratitude to God, which helps my mind start the morning with a grateful mind and heart. After waking up, I open my curtains and blinds to let natural light inside my room and as well as open the windows to let fresh air inside. After I fix my bed, I spray a homemade bottle of mixed oil essentials onto my bed, and it leaves my room smelling like lavender and eucalyptus.

2.Turn on the air purifier

Living in Southern California lately, we have had a lot of wildfires and local fires, which has given me the worst allergies this year. On some mornings I would open the windows if the air quality is not bad. Recently I decided to buy an air purifier from Amazon, and this machine has helped me SOO much and minimized my allergies that would act up almost every morning and sometimes continue throughout the day.

3.Hygiene

I can't stand having morning breath, so I need to quickly wash my teeth, and I also wash my face with my current favorite face wash by La Roche. Pretty simple!

4.Prepare coffee brewer

Of course, my ice coffee is a must in the morning. Lately, I have been using my coffee maker to make ice coffee, and my favorite brewer is Dunkin Donuts medium roast. After the coffee is done brewing, I pour the coffee into a plastic cup, which then goes into the freezer. My coffee cup stays in the freezer while I get ready so it can chill meanwhile I get prepared for the day. You're probably reading this saying you could use cold brew sold at the grocery store, and that is true! but there is no Dunkin cold brew yet, and lately, I have preferred making ice coffee this way.

5.Drink lots of water

I always have my hydro flask inside my room, so if I get thirsty at night, I can hydrate as well in the morning. I try to drink 40 oz. of water every morning, so basically, I drink my whole hydro flask during the AM. Hydrate before caffeinating (:

6. My Quiet time

I like starting my day off by spending time with God by reading His Word, and sometimes I write to God in my journal or anything that has been on my mind. This is an important part of my morning that I have implemented during the years. Reading the bible helps me have a good start to my day by learning more about Him and spending time in prayer.

7.Choosing an uplifting podcast

Every morning I like to listen to a positive podcast or a sermon while getting ready. I like having a podcast that talks about faith, and if the hosts are hilarious, even better! Some of my current favorite podcasts that help me start my day off right by having some laughs are "The Lindsey's" and "Southside Rabbi." In both of these podcasts, I learn more about faith, culture, relationships, etc., which are topics I enjoy learning about.

8.Get ready

Since March, there hasn't been much to do in quarantine and in lockdown, and I have found myself stuck at home. Even though I work from home, I still like to look presentable and feel cute. I don't apply too much makeup, but I apply a minimal which includes mascara, concealer under the eyes, eyebrows. I also like to fix my hair and not make it seem like I just woke up lol

9.Pick an outfit

I am one of those people who do not like staying in my pj's all day; although that sounds like a comfortable outfit, it is not for me. I like to change into a cute and comfy outfit that will help me get through errands or finish tasks around the house. Usually, that type of outfit would be leggings or shorts, and a comfortable shirt. I believe in the saying how I dress can make me feel better about myself.

10. Make ice coffee

Remember the cup of brew I put in the freezer? Well, once I am done with my morning routine, I will start making my ice coffee. I am a huge ice coffee drinker, and making ice coffee at home has been saving me lots of money. Now, I have found my favorite ingredients to use to make my ice coffee, which are a whole lot of ice, vanilla extract, a tablespoon of monk fruit vanilla syrup, and some almond vanilla cream. I mix every ingredient together and start my day!

11.Start the day

Overall, I love having a good positive morning routine. Setting up your routine in the morning is important because it can influence how your day can go and your attitude as well. By starting my day off to a good start, I feel good and ready to conquer the day, I know that sounds cheesy lol, but it is true. In the past, there have been some tough workdays, but I noticed reading my bible and listening to inspiring podcasts in the morning helped me get through those days.

Thanks for reading!! (:
